"RICK" AND COOPER TRY LOCAL TRACK

Eddie Rickenbacher and Earl Cooper made a trip to the Speedway with their racing cars Sunday afternoon and "Rick" whirled around the track several times, during which he made an average dash of 97 miles per hour. The two men then returned to their quarters at the Chamberlain, and with Mrs. Cooper and Lew Dutton, Cooper's mechanician, made up a little dinner party of their own.

"The Des Moines Speedway looks like a good track to me," said Rickenbacher last night. "It seems perfectly safe, well constructed and I believe some very fast time will be made in the Speedway races here next Saturday."

This week is the last before the big races start here next Saturday. All the drivers must be here early in the week for the eliminations start Wednesday and should all be finished by Friday afternoon. No charge will be made to witness the eliminations to those who hold tickets to the big event.
