RALPH DEPALMA HEADS LIST OF SPEED KINGS TO ARRIVE TODAY

Elimination Trials Will Be Staged in Next Three Days

DePalma Bears No Ill Will for Loss of Race Last Year - Ira Vail Is Latest to Enter the Local Event.

BY SCOUT.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph DePalma are registered at the Chamberlain today. The famous race driver who lost to Dario Resta at Chicago last Sunday by a narrow margin in three races is ready for business at the local track when the speedway races are staged here Saturday.

De Palma arrived in the city this morning. His car was due to arrive about noon and will probably be taken to the Successful Motor Sales company garage for final tuning up. This will be a brief matter however for the master driver declares his boat is in shape to enter a grind of any length at a moment's notice.

Mr. DePalma bears no ill will gainst the Speedway management and the officials of the A.A.A. for awarding the race of last year to Ralph Mulford after it had been flashed to the papers that the former had won. "That is a thing of the past," he said. "We are concerned now only in the race here next Saturday."

O'DONNELL LACKS CAR.

It was declared here today that Eddie O'Donnell may not be able to enter the race here unless some unusually fast work is done on the Duesenberg car he expected to drive. The car is now at the factory being finished. It is a brand new machine and and will be shipped to Des Moines at the earliest possible moment. Under any conditions it is probable that the car will not arrive in time for its elimination trials before Friday.

Elimination trials were scheduled to start Wednesday but if it rains on that date Thursday and Friday will be used for the purpose. Mr. DePalma declared today that he will not go to the speedway for his first spin until the weather clears up and the track is dried. Eddie Rickenbacher took a trial spin at the speedway again yesterday along with Earl Cooper. All the drivers declare the track to be in excellent condition.

"It is a dandy little track," remarked De Palma today. "One of the best in the country for a mile distance and fast time should be made here Saturday."

VAIL IS ENTERED.

The entry of Ira Vail who will drive a Hudson Supersix was received at the local speedway headquarters today. Vail will be here soon. Race driver who are now in the city are: Cooper, Rickenbacher, Henderson, Chandler, Lewis, Barndollar, De Palma and Galvin. Those yet to come are: Buzane, D'Alene, Christiens, Milton, Mulford and O'Donnell.
