NO MORE SANCTIONED AUTO RACES IN 1917?
That there will be no more automobile races sanctioned by the American Automobile association this year is the statement of Max Friedman of San Francisco who is here as advance man for the racing meet which will be held at the local speedway June 16. Friedman said that while the recent long race at Cincinnati was a big affair and took in over $60,000 it seemed to tire on the people and a large part of the crowd left before the affair was half over. Inability of the drivers to get cars is the main reason for lack of good races this year, he says. DePalma and Resta have been unable to get cars while Rickenbacher has quit the game to help organize an aviation training camp for the government.
