Des Moines people will be interested to know that "Buddy" Jones, a young racing driver, who will appear in the big 300-mile derby at the local speedway July 31, is a brother of Mrs. Dudley Nashold, wife of the manager of the Unique theater.
This will be the first race in which Jones has brushed up against the speed kings as a driver. He was mechanician for Bob Burman at Davenport in 1913 and for Billy Chandler the same year at the Elgin road races. He has been driving at fairs and celebrations thruout Iowa for some time. He has been in the money forty-two times in sixty-five starts. He went thru a fence once and broke four posts off, but the accident failed to spoil his nerve.
The youngster was reared in Cedar Rapids, where his parents live. He started in the automobile game as a car washer and later as driver of a delivery truck. His friends say he is absolutely without fear.
