BURMAN PAYS $2,500 TO MEET OLD RIVALS
Bob Burman lost $2,500 cash and a chance to win $5,000 from the Des Moines speedway promoters. He arrived in Chicago last night and announced his Peugeot is ready to race against Resta, Oldfield and Cooper's machines for the 100-mile championship next Saturday afternoon at Speedway park.
Burman was to have driven in the 300-mile race at Des Moines Saturday. Unfavorable weather caused a postponement. He was offered $2,500 to stay for the race there. He said he would rather defeat Resta, Oldfield and Cooper than accept the bonus and try for the $5,000.
"I have the fastest car of the four," Burman declared. "My plan of battle is to drive the others off their wheels from the pop of the starter's gun."
