DEPALMA SETS NEW RECORD IN 25 MILE RACE

Ralph DePalma in the Mercedes with which he gave Resta hot pursuit in the special race at Chicago Sunday went himself one better at the speedway eliminations Thursday afternoon by breaking the 25-mile record.

He was clocked in an average of 101 1-2 miles an hour for the entire distance.

DePalma's feat has resulted in talk of adding a 25-mile race to the 150 and 50 mile events already scheduled for Saturday.

Elimination trials Friday were to determine the final dozen who will survive for the big event which starts at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The arrival of Eddie O'Donnell, Wilbur D'Alene and Tom Milton, the Dusenberg team, completed the arrivals for the race.
