Grabbing off firsts in the 50-mile and five-mile races and seconds in 20-mile and 10-mile, Dave Lewis in a Crawford took the premier honors in the bargain bill at the Speedway Monday.
The 50-mile race was run in slower time than the same race Saturday. Lewis got around in 34 minutes, 8.59 seconds, and average of ninety miles an hour.
Until the twenty-second lap Mulford led but he slackened speed in this lap and both Lewis and Hughes passed him. Lewis held the lead the remainder of the way.
Hughes broke a piston rod in the fortieth lap and dropped out. The final order was Lewis, Galvin, Mulford.
Galvin in a Sunbeam increased the speed to 92.2 miles an hour in the 20-mile affair and got a first. He was closely trailed by Lewis, with Mulford in the third position.
Galvin repeated in the ten mile, making an average speed of 94.7 miles while circling the oval the 10 times. Crawford got another second in this raceand Mulford for the third time was third.
