DES MOINES IS HOST TO MOTOR TRACK WIZARDS
Famous Drivers - DePalma, Burman, Mulford Et Al, Here For Big Race

Des Moines is host this week to the greatest galaxy of auto racing stars that has ever been assembled in the Iowa capital at one time.
Ralph DePalma, Bob Burman, Ralph Mulford, among the oldest and most successful drivers in the game are today tuning up their cars preliminary to the elimination trials for the first 300-mile race to be staged on the Des Moines speedway track Saturday. Twelve other drivers, topped by Eddie O'Donnell, winner of the Omaha speedway race, will participate and Des Moines will obtain some real thrills when the big competition is pulled off.
Barney Oldfield will not compete in the big race, having secured the services of Tom Alley, former member of the Duesenberg team as a substitute. Alley will drive an O'Gren.
Eliminations Tomorrow.
The first of the elimination trials will be held Wednesday afternoon but the drivers will be permitted to get acquainted with the track today. Fred Wagner, official starter for the A.A.A., will not arrive in Des Moines until tomorrow or Thursday. He will certify the records made in the eliminations.
There will be no practicing on the speedway Friday. The drivers who qualify in the big race, will spend the day in tuning up their cars and resting.
