TRI-STATE FAIR MAKING PROCESS
GROUNDS WILL BE IN READINESS
MODERN RACE TRACK BEING GRADED - PAVILLION LARGE ENOUGH TO SEAT 8,000 - ROOMY BARNS FOR HORSES, AND PENS FOR LIVE STOCK - TWO DEEP WELLS - NEW FENCES AND ENTRANCES.
The dates for the Tri-State Fair are August 7 to 14, inclusive, and present indications are that it will be the greatest event in the way of a fair held here since the State Fair held it annual event here away back in 1856.
The grounds have been extended Northward a distance of forty rods, and the entire acreage is surrounded by a high wire fence supported on cedar poles. Entrances are are provided on Agency St. and also at the Northwest corner of the grounds where the street railway entrance will be.
The new pavillion fronting the race track has a seating capacity of 8,000. It is a solid and permanent structure and has agreeable architectural lines.
There have been some changes in the race track necessitating considerable grading. The track is being made under personal direction of Secretary George H. Holcombe, who is a civil engineer by profession and has had considerable experience in this kind of work.
Two deep wells have been sunk on the grounds, one over near the new barns on the west border of the grounds, the other a short distance from the new pavillion. These wells are now being pumped and give every indication of ability to furnish practically unlimited quantities of pure water. Tanks are to be erected for storage of water for fire protection and other uses.
The new horse barns and stock sheds on the north side are eliciting many favorable comments. In these barns are hundreds of box stalls which are provided with all creature comforts.
Modern new ticket office entrances are now receiving the finishing touches. At suitable intervals along the fence enclosing the grounds, massive concrete pillars contribute to the appearance of the property.
Every indication points to a great and successful fair here in August.
