AUTO RACES HERE TUESDAY; FOUR EVENTS ON THE PROGRAM
Plans are complete for the big auto race to be held at the Des Moines Speedway, near Valley Junction tomorrow afternoon. Four events, ten mile Iowa motorcycle, five mile Des Moines motorcycle, twenty mile Iowa auto race, and ten mile Des Moines race are on the program.
The elimination trials for the two auto races were held this afternoon. The fastest six cars in the Iowa race and the fastest five in the Des Moines race qualified for the finals this afternoon. The finals will start at 2 o'clock Tuesday.
G. Decker French of Davenport, representative of the American Automobile association contest board, arrived here this morning and will be in charge of the races tomorrow.
A number of the drivers made good time in practice at the Speedway yesterday.
International road racing signals will be used on the course tomorrow. They are: Red flag, course is clear; yellow flag, blocked course, stop; green flag, recer entering last lap; white flag, racer must stop at pit on next lap for consultation; black and white checkered flag, racer is finished.
The road between the city and the Speedway is reported to be in fina shape. Twenty-one blocks of asphalt have been paved through Valley Junction since the last auto race.
