ENTRY LIST IS CLOSED FOR BIG AUTO CLASSIC HERE

Nineteen Are Entered To Race for 150 Miles

Elimination Trials Are Started This Afternoon - Twelve Racers Making the Fastest Time Will Be Allowed to Start in Saturday's Long Grind

Nineteen of the fastest auto drivers in the game today are entered in the second international automobile races to be held on the Des Moines Speedway track near Valley Junction this coming Saturday. The big event of 150 miles will be followed by a 50-mile free-for-all. Cash prizes of $13,500 will be awarded to the winners.

The entry list closed today. Five entries came under the wire just as the list was closed but the local Speedway officials declined to receive them, owing to the already large list.

The first of the series of elimination trials was started this afternoon. The twelve racers making the fastest time in the elimination trials will be allowed to start Saturday's big race.

The entrants and the cars they will drive follow:

Secretary Orloff of the Speedway association talked with Fred J. Wagner official starter of the American Automobile association, who is in Chicago, and Wagner will arrive in Des Moines Friday to attend the final heats of eliminations. He will be accompanied by W.C. Barnes, western representative of the American Automobile association.

Sears to Referee Race.

The list of officials for the Speedway meet are being rapidly completed. W.W. Sears of Des Moines will be referee. G. Decker French of Davenport, Iowa representative of the American Automobile association, will act in his official capacity. Mayor John MacVicar of Des Moines will be honorary referee.

Reservations of seats are now being made at the Speedway offices at 505 Locust street. Speedway officials have been rushed with requests for grandstand seats and boxes and advise automobile fans to make their reservations as early as possible as a big crowd is expected at the gates.
