SUNDAY WILL BE DAY FOR VISITORS AT THE SPEEDWAY
Next Sunday will be visitor's day at the speedway.
The Speedway company announced this morning that by that day sufficient progress in the building will have been made that an accurate idea of the magnitude and character of the work will be obtainable.
If the weather is pleasant on Sunday, the company will maintain a "glad hander" at the speedway site, who will explain things to auto parties driving to the speedway on that day. Secretary Geis Botsford of the Chamber of Commerce said today that twenty signs, pointing out the road to the speedway, will be established on the Des Moines-Valley Junction highway by Sunday.
To reach the track, autoists should go out Grand avenue, leaving it at the first road off the River-to-River road to the left, after crossing Walnut creek bridge. This highway will take them through Valley Junction. The speedway, on the other side of Valley Junction, will be reached by traveling the Commerce road to the Thirteenth street railroad crossing.
Three big bulletin boards advertising the speedway and its first event, soon are to be placed. Two of these will be at the speedway site.
One will be visible to passengers on Rock Island trains; the other to persons traveling on the Minneapolis & St. Louis trains. The third bulletin board will be placed at Eighth street, Valley Junction, where travelers turn off the River-to-River road to go into the Junction.
