SPEEDWAY RAPIDLY NEARING COMPLETION
By Saturday the running track of the Des Moines Speedway will have been completed and great progress will have been made on other work.
There is much yet to be done, the grandstands must be built, subways must be constructed under the tracks and a great deal of grading must be done. It all will be completed in time for Barney Oldfield's performance on the track and DeLoyd Thompson's feats in the air, July 25. The grading will begin today and the lumber for the grandstands is on the ground. More men will be put to work this week.
The designers of the Speedway are giving the greatest attention to safety and there will be ample provision against machines leaving the track and injuring spectators. The track and its surroundings have been designed to make accidents impossible.
